The Cornish Chef is the brain child of local boy Daniel Rouncefield who was lucky enough to grow up in St. Ives. With a fisherman for a father most of his childhood was spent learning how to pick crab claws, barbecuing fresh mackerel in the summer evenings, baking with his mum, and stirring the gravy for his grandmother.
A chef from the early age of 14, Daniel worked his way up through the kitchens gaining knowledge from all the chefs he worked with until he was ready to go solo and started 'The Cornish Chef', a private hire catering service that brings the restaurant to you!

'Most of my favourite memories involve me cooking with my family – excitedly tasting our creations as we went along, and experimenting with different flavours. I’ve always believed that since cooking is something we have to do anyway (because, we all need to eat, right?) – why not make it as enjoyable as possible?!
 After completing my studies in catering in Camborne, and winning Student of the Year for 3 consecutive years, I trained at The Seafood Café in St. Ives, where I learnt most of my craft. I pride myself on using the best that Cornwall has to offer, from the freshest fish from St. Ives bay to the best prime cuts of meat, cooking it in classic but simple ways to make the produce sing. I can’t wait to meet you, and cook some good food!'

I am still having issues with 'Cornish Chef' - a private caterer that is very hard to get in touch with and leaving customers disappointed.
I am THE Cornish Chef, I will always reply to messages and never leave you in the dark after receiving a deposit. I always have a phone number, email address and active website with a contact me page on it.

The dine menu is more suited for that slightly more formal dinner party with individual plated meals.

I prepare, cook, serve and clear everything away in the comfort of your own property.  

All of our menus can be adapted to suit your individual needs and costs no more than going out to a restaurant, meaning no need for a designated driver or baby sitter!

Your guests do not all have to have the same dish, as I will ask for a pre-order.

I only need one hour prior to your first course in order to set up. 

£10 per person deposit is required to secure the booking. 

All allergies and dietary lifestyles can be accommodated please let me know when booking.

The feast menu is more of a social interactive event passing around sharing bowls and platters to each other with something to suit everyone.

Baker & Chef is a stunning little café in the heart of the city, 6 River St Truro, with plenty of space for prams, wheelchairs and dogs.

Homemade cakes, bakes, lunches and the best Cornish coffee! - It's the spot to be.

I will be hosting a brekkie club every Saturday from 9am to 11am serving some beautiful fresh local ingredients.

The Secret Quay Kitchen, Hayle is a stunning location hidden away on a fishing quay. 

Set up with its own bar and indoor and outdoor seating it is the perfect place to hide away and feast!

I specialise in smaller weddings from 4 – approx. 150 guests. I have tried and tested sample menus to stimulate your creativity but are more than happy to work with you to deliver a wedding feast truly reflecting yourselves. Locally sourced, seasonal produce from reputable suppliers is what I am all about.


From a traditional 3 course sit down meal to an alternative BBQ, carnivores or vegans, I’ve got it covered. Creative menus meaningful to you.

I can arrange taster menus to make sure I have everything perfect for your special day. I can also design a menu that matches your colour scheme to print and send to your guests.
